Ann Wagner, U.S. Congresswoman representing Missouri’s 2nd district since 2013, posted a series of tweets on October 14, 2025, addressing the ongoing government shutdown and local community efforts.
In her first post at 14:11 UTC, Wagner highlighted the economic impact of the shutdown, stating, "A monthlong shutdown leads to 43,000 Americans losing their jobs and $15 billion in GDP lost each week. America can’t afford this, and it’s time Democrats reopened the government."
Later the same day at 18:08 UTC, Wagner attributed responsibility for the situation to Democratic leadership, writing, "Make no mistake, this is the Schumer Shutdown. Democrats could vote to reopen the government at any time, but they are holding it hostage until they get their radically liberally wish list."
In a separate post at 20:41 UTC, Wagner discussed her meeting with a local official, saying, "I appreciated meeting with Washington Mayor Doug Hagedorn today. We spoke about the ongoing efforts to secure a new facility for a senior center in the community, as well as all they are doing to promote economic development and support local businesses. Wagner has represented Missouri’s 2nd District in Congress since replacing Todd Akin in 2013. She was born in St. Louis in 1962 and currently resides in Ballwin. Wagner graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1984.
