U.S. Representative Ann Wagner, who serves Missouri’s 2nd congressional district, has posted a series of statements on social media addressing the ongoing government shutdown and its effects, as well as her continued work in Congress.
On October 16, 2025, Wagner highlighted her conversation with Major General Charles Hausman regarding the Missouri National Guard's role during the shutdown. She stated, "I spoke with Major General Charles Hausman, the Adjutant General of the Missouri National Guard, on the great work the Guard has been doing. All the 12,000 members have been deemed essential during the reckless government shutdown, and we are deeply grateful for their service."
The following day, October 17, Wagner criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer in another post: "Chuck Schumer chose to shut down the government because he wants to put illegal immigrants on free healthcare. He cares more about his left wing base than paying our troops or ensuring single moms can feed their children. This is reckless, irresponsible, and shameful."
Later that same day, she referenced a media appearance: "Great interview with KSDK’s Mark Maxwell today to talk about the reckless government shutdown by the Democrats, President Trump’s Middle East Peace deal, and much more. I always appreciate the opportunity to talk about my ongoing work in Congress as your Representative for".
Ann Wagner has represented Missouri’s 2nd District in Congress since 2013 after succeeding Todd Akin. She was born in St Louis in 1962 and currently resides in Ballwin. Wagner graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1984.
