Congresswoman Ann Wagner has expressed her condolences following the death of former Missouri Senator Kit Bond. In a statement, she highlighted Bond's significant contributions to Missouri and the nation, describing him as "a true statesman seemingly from a bygone era in today’s divisive world." Wagner praised Bond for his dedication to public service and his ability to collaborate with others for the betterment of both state and country.

Reflecting on their personal relationship, Wagner shared that some of her fondest memories were phone calls from Bond and his wife Linda inviting her and her husband Ray to dinner. She recounted how sharing stories about Missouri politics over three decades was always a highlight.

Wagner also emphasized Bond's role in promoting women in politics, noting his support during times when it was challenging for women to enter the field. She mentioned working alongside influential figures such as Julie Dammann and Catherine Hanaway under Bond's guidance.

In closing, Wagner conveyed her sorrow at Bond's passing: “Ray and I are heartbroken to hear of his passing and our prayers are with his wife Linda, who took such incredible care of him...as well as his son, Sam, and the entire Bond family.” She described Bond as a dear friend and mentor whose friendship had greatly impacted her career.
