The U.S. Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly has released a statement following the recent commitment by NATO Allies to increase defense spending targets. The agreement, reached at a NATO Summit, sets a goal for member nations to allocate 5% of their GDP annually to defense by 2035.

"The success of the NATO Summit is the Alliance's commitment to raise defense spending to 5% of GDP," the statement reads. It highlights threats from Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea as key reasons for this increased investment in military capabilities and strengthening NATO's defense posture.

The statement also praises Secretary General Rutte's leadership and emphasizes the importance of equal partnership among the United States, Europe, and Canada in promoting security through strength as vital for NATO's future.

This announcement is supported by several U.S. Representatives: Michael Turner (OH-10), Brett Guthrie (KY-02), Ann Wagner (MO-02), Neal Dunn (FL-02), Linda Sanchez (CA-38), Brendan Boyle (PA-02), Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01), Rick Larsen (WA-02), Donald Norcross (NJ-01), Jack Bergman (MI-01) and Beth Van Duyne (TX-24).
