Congresswoman Ann Wagner of Missouri announced the House's approval of H.R. 4016, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act. Wagner emphasized the importance of enhancing American military strength to counter global threats and support armed forces personnel.
"Our world continues to be a dangerous and volatile place, and it remains critical we counter our adversaries by enhancing American military superiority and supporting the men and women of our armed forces as they fight for our freedoms," said Wagner. The legislation supports air superiority programs like the F-47 stealth fighter, F-15EX Eagle II, and MQ-25 Stingray refueling drone, all produced in St. Louis. It also funds Missouri-made Small Diameter Bombs (SDBs) and Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAMs).
Wagner highlighted concerns about Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea: "The new Axis of Evil that is Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea has continued to threaten global stability and safety of Americans at home and abroad." She noted that the bill strengthens missile warning systems and intelligence collection while ensuring fair compensation for military personnel.
Her amendments included $6 million for Isostatic Advanced Armor Production to develop stronger armor domestically and $5 million for testing Multifunctional Ballistic Batteries. "I was pleased my amendments to support the development of cutting-edge armor production and battery manufacturing made here in our community were included," she added.
