Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO), Vice Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, today applauded the House passage of the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

“Our world is in a dangerous place with China, Russia, and Iran, the new axis of evil, seeking to consolidate power and influence worldwide. A strong national defense will deter authoritarians and help us fight back against these destabilizing regimes and for our fundamental freedoms," said Wagner. "Today’s NDAA bolsters our national security not just abroad but here at home on our southern border as well."

Wagner highlighted several key aspects of the legislation: “This legislation gives our troops a pay raise to ensure they have the support they need while fighting to defend our nation. The NDAA will provide increased Congressional oversight of the Department of Defense so we can ensure your tax dollars are spent efficiently and effectively.”

She also emphasized an amendment she championed: “I am pleased to be able to announce this year’s NDAA includes an amendment I championed that establishes an exchange program for U.S. and Middle Eastern experts on AI, cyber, counterterrorism, air defense, and more. This amendment will help strengthen our U.S.-Israel relationship, bolster the transformative Abraham Accords, and help bring peace and prosperity to the region."

Additionally, Wagner noted local benefits: "The St. Louis-area will also receive $235 million for T-7 aircraft built here in our community, over $2 billion for F-15s, JDAMs, and MQ-25s, and $6 million for advanced armor production developed in St. Louis. I am proud of our community’s contributions to our national defense and will continue advocating for local funding in the NDAA that is a major economic driver.”
