Congresswoman Ann Wagner, serving as Vice Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, has introduced bipartisan legislation aimed at enhancing security and military readiness between the United States and Abraham Accords nations. The Learning Integrated National Knowledge (LINK) Act seeks to connect senior commanders through an exchange program to improve integration and alignment.

This legislative move comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East, attributed to actions by Iran and its proxies. It also marks the fourth anniversary of the Abraham Accords. Representatives Jimmy Panetta, Zach Nunn, Brad Schneider, David Trone, and Cathy McMorris Rodgers are co-leading this initiative. Senators Jacky Rosen and Joni Ernst have introduced companion legislation in the Senate.

Iran's activities, including those of proxy forces like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, have led to increased regional instability. These groups have been involved in various attacks across the Middle East. The LINK Act aims to bolster capabilities by establishing a subject matter expert exchange program for American senior military officials.

“Iran’s unprecedented missile attack on Israel on October 1 shows the Ayatollah is bent on Israel’s destruction,” stated Rep. Wagner. She emphasized that regional security cooperation is essential for stability in the Middle East and defending American allies against aggression.

Rep. Panetta remarked on Iran's aggressive actions threatening regional stability: “A military expert exchange program between Abraham Accords countries will ensure leaders are coordinating an integrated response.”

Rep. Nunn stressed that "The Iranian Regime and its proxies cannot be left unchecked," highlighting ongoing threats from Iran towards Israel.

Rep. Schneider referenced recent efforts to intercept Iranian missiles as evidence of the importance of coordination between CENTCOM and allies: “As Iran...continues to escalate threats...it is critical that our partners have access to experienced military experts.”

Rep. Trone emphasized international cooperation: “With that goal in mind, it is imperative that we continue to share vital resources."

Rep. McMorris Rodgers underscored the need for strengthened defense planning: “The LINK Act is a critical bipartisan effort...showing the world that we unequivocally stand with Israel.”

The legislation forms part of both House and Senate versions of the FY25 National Defense Authorization Act, expanding upon previous efforts by integrating various defense capabilities against Iranian aggression.
